Rules & Regulations
Please read these Official Rules before entering the 50/50 Raffle for UB Athletics (the “Raffle”). By purchasing a ticket, you represent that you meet all of the below-stated requirements and agree to be bound by these Official Rules, and by the decisions of UB Foundation Activities, Inc., (the “Sponsor”), a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, or its representative.
1. THE RAFFLE: The 50/50 Raffle for UB Athletics is a raffle whereby tickets are sold during football games at UB Stadium and surrounding areas, and during Men’s and Women’s basketball games in Alumni Arena and surrounding areas. In football, the winning number will be announced over the PA system and on the video scoreboard during the 3rd Quarter. In basketball, the winning number will be announced by the PA announcer and on the video scoreboard during the 8 minute time out of the 2nd half. The winning number will also be posted online. One fan that has purchased a raffle ticket will for that particular game win fifty percent (50%) of the net proceeds (also known as “Pot”, or “Pool”). All remaining proceeds from the Raffle shall be retained by UB Foundation Activities, Inc. and allocated to support UB Athletics (Blue and White Fund). Each raffle begins approximately 2 hours prior to game time and ends at the completion of half time (each a “Raffle Period”). All 50/50 Raffle ticket sales are final.
2. ELIGIBILITY: The Raffle is only open to anyone eighteen (18) years of age and older as of the date of purchase. Only one winner per ticket is allowed. Individuals need not be present to win. The Raffle is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
3. ENTRY: You may enter the Raffle, if you meet the eligibility requirements, by agreeing to follow these Official Rules and purchasing Raffle ticket in various price points from our stationary selling location or from Raffle sales representatives roaming in or around stadium or arena locations. All Raffle ticket purchases must be completed by the end of the applicable Raffle Period. The Sponsor is not liable for any lost, stolen, misdirected, incomplete, illegible, undelivered, or destroyed tickets regardless of cause or person responsible including, but not limited to, any problem or technical malfunction of any computer, online system or server or technical problem.
4. DRAWING: The prize winner will be selected in a random drawing from among all eligible Raffle tickets purchased during each Raffle Period. The drawing will be held on or about the middle of the 3rd quarter in football, and on or about the middle of the 2nd half in men’s basketball, and after the 3rd quarter in women’s basketball of the applicable game. The drawing will be conducted by the Sponsor whose decision will be final. The selected Raffle number will be announced by the PA Announcer and on the video scoreboard. It will also be posted online at www.ubbulls.com/5050.
5. HOW TO CLAIM A PRIZE: To claim a prize, the holder of the selected Raffle ticket (a “Prize Claimant”) must contact Sponsor and present the winning Raffle ticket in person to the South Ticket Booth for football events, the Arena ticket office for basketball events, or they can contact a University at Buffalo Athletic Representative by calling 716-645-6917 within ninety (90) days of the drawing. The 50/50 Raffle ticket is the only valid receipt for claiming a prize and must be redeemed either in person or via mail. Each Prize Claimant must provide Sponsor with all information required to claim a prize (including tax identification information). The Prize Claimant will receive required forms approved by Sponsor which must be executed and returned to Sponsor prior to receipt of the Prize. In the event a Prize Claimant: (a) does not notify Sponsor within ninety (90) days of drawing; (b) is ruled ineligible for any reason; (c) refuses the prize: or (d) does not return the required forms within ninety (90) days, the Prize will be forfeited and will be retained by Sponsor. Sponsor has no obligation to contact potential winners. All prizes will be delivered via check within thirty (30) days of the winner delivering the winning Raffle ticket and all other required documents to Sponsor. For security and safety reasons, no cash payments will be made to Raffle winners. Unclaimed winnings will be retained by the Sponsor for its charitable purposes.
6. TAXES: Each participant acknowledges that they have been informed that the IRS has taken the position that amounts paid for chances to participate in raffles, lotteries, or similar programs are not gifts and, therefore, the price of a Raffle ticket does not qualify as a deductible charitable contribution. The Prize Claimant is solely responsible for any and all federal, state and local taxes, fees and other government assessments on the awarded prize. Furthermore, each Prize Claimant acknowledges that federal law may require a tax withholding on certain prize values that must be collected from winners’ award or distribution. Federal, state withholding laws are subject to change without notice. The withholding laws in effect at the time each prize is claimed will be followed.
7. SPONSOR: The Sponsor of the Raffle is UB Foundation Activities, Inc., a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, with a mailing address of Box 900, Buffalo, NY 14226-0900.
